Coreen Lawrence

Coreen Lawrence is the Managing Director of Preferred Method and is passionate about collaborative leadership and about connecting people through values-based conversations.

With over a decade specializing primarily in oil and gas stakeholder engagement programs, Coreen uses strategic planning, formal mediation, collaborative leadership coaching, training, and meeting facilitation, to lead clients and stakeholders step-by-step through collaborative leadership based processes to achieve successful outcomes and move past things that stand in the way of sleeping at night, getting work done, making exceptional deals and having good relationships.

As a Mediator, Coreen brings the skills of conflict resolving to conversations to uncover common ground through exploring common motivations such as: concerns, hopes, expectations, assumptions, beliefs, fears and values.

Using a blend of technology and traditional approaches, Coreen holds a high emphasis on engaging ‘hard to reach’ stakeholders and in building capacity with stakeholders and clients to contribute to values-based conversations with highly collaborative outcomes.

In 2005, Coreen created Preferred Method Inc., a firm that incorporates stakeholder engagement and conflict resolution as well as leverages her training and background in public relations.

Life-long learning is a continuous pursuit for Coreen. In addition to a Bachelors of Arts in English from the University of Alberta, Coreen has successfully completed the Conflict Management Certification from the Alberta Arbitration and Mediation Society (AAMS) and received the Public Relations Diploma from Grant MacEwan as well as the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) Certificate in Public Participation.
